Join our team in the Northern Area

Meet the challenge!

The UCSA family in the Northern Area wants you to join us for an exciting time of spiritual and personal growth, adventure, retreats, outreaches, fun, travel and challenge as you serve the Lord and develop relationships with young people who share your love for Jesus and for camping and adventure and outreach!

Your options

  • Join as a volunteer and work during weekends, in the week or during holidays. We’ll train you for your job!
  • Join us for a year or more. You’ll be trained very well!

Volunteers

UCSA wants to serve the broader body of Christ by creating practical opportunities where young adults can live out their passion for young people and their faith in line with their calling and be equipped as youth leaders.

We are convinced that the energy generated during such events will benefit churches and schools. God has a plan for everyone and He wants us to reach our full potential and benefit the whole body.

Maybe the Lord touched you at Winklespruit or Die Hoekie and you want to give something of that experience back to young people. Maybe you don’t even know where Winklespruit or Die Hoekie is, but you want to reach out to young people in need. Maybe you have a love for adventure and the outdoors and want to use this to deomonstrate God’s love to young peoples.  Make that call!

If that is the case, our volunteer programme is tailor-made for you! Besides getting opportunities to reach out at camps, acquiring practical skills and solid spiritual input, you will also be developed as a leader. We follow a relational approach, growing as a team while reaching out to young people. Our training is value-based and will take place in multi-cultural contexts.

What is expected of you?

  • To register
  • To attend the training events and one or more camps
  • To function within the guidelines of UCSA
  • To serve and submit.

What students say about Die Hoekie

“I came to Die Hoekie after I met Tweety. I experienced that Tweety had a real relationship with God. I wanted what he had! My life has changed dramatically since I joined the team at Die Hoekie. I met Jesus for real; He has become my friend and God my Father! I know the plans He has for me. I have discovered who I am and He has put in me a passion for the lost and helpless. I want to devote my life to God and serving others in need” – Braam (Hoekie Team 2005).

“God has done so much in my life during the time that I’ve been at Die Hoekie, but I think the best thing that God has invested in my life is the whole thing of identity, who I am in Christ, how He has created me and especially as a woman, that He has created me beautifully” – Amanda (Hoekie Team 2003).

“Last year was a really lonely year for me and something really special I’ve experienced since being at Die Hoekie is a genuine sense of family. God has revealed to me his compassion and care for me and others and is dealing with things in my life I need to sort out” – Katie (Hoekie Team 2007).
